Interesting read on how typography and color helped shape Zohran Mamdani’s campaign identity.

Whatever your politics, I think this is a great reminder that design is never just decoration. The campaign leaned into a visual language rooted in New York itself: hand-painted signage, taxi yellow, bodega energy, bold type, and colors that feel familiar before you even think about why.

That raises a bigger question for anyone involved in campaigns, branding, or local marketing:

How much does visual identity influence whether a message feels authentic?

Is strong design enough to make a campaign feel more energetic and credible, or does it only work when it is already connected to a real movement, place, and audience?
