Your work will always be there. Your inbox will always be there. Your to-do list? Yup, that too.
But that moment of stillness? That breath of fresh air? That feeling of just *being* somewhere that has nothing to do with a screen or a deadline?
You have to choose that, intentionally.
I visited the Ipswich Wildlife Reserve recently, and I didn’t realize how much I needed it until I was standing there, surrounded by nature, getting up close and personal with the cutiest birds and completely away from all the noise in my head...if that makes sense. It gave me something I didn’t know I was running low on: energy, clarity, and a genuine sense of calm.
And I think I needed a reminder that that’s what a real break does. It’s not just a scroll through your phone between tasks, which I am very guilty of. It’s an intentional pause.
Your best ideas, your sharpest thinking, your most creative work, they don’t come from working harder or never leaving your desk. They come from giving yourself permission to step away.
So whatever that looks like for you today, take it. A walk. A drive. A visit somewhere that fills you back up.
You owe it to your work AND yourself. 🌿
