Happy New Year to all from Watseka Sign and me Carol Kaufmann! I've been out of my shop for a bit with the crazy weather, the Holidays and then my pesty Appendix, so current hours are optimistic at best.

I'm so blessed doing what I love for a living, well for a long time, going on 35 years. In hindsight I wish I'd had the guts to name my shop something different, but in '91 women didn't do
Signs let alone open as a shop, hence the generic name! It hasn't been easy and I have learned from a lot of "lessons". But I've had the best mentors ever in this industry and I'm forever grateful to them.
Welcome New Year and I'll be looking forward to sweet sign projects and getting back to my Art!

Although most of my posts are of painted signs I also do many trucks and semis that are all vinyl. The days of painting on trucks are gone and these 3M digital prints are a pleasure to work with and I can proudly say they last a long time! We got this beautiful sign installed on the new Beecher Police Department building! Thank you again Chief Lemming for this wonderful project and letting me have some fun with your sign!
The edges and rope are sculpted and the black behind the gold POLICE is black smalts. All paint on Alumilite.
And a thank you to my fabulous friend Judy Grossman for some very sound advice, much appreciated! And to my hubby JR for another great installation job!

Here are some progress pictures of a new Police Department sign. Need to finish the pictorial and then we can start sculpting the border. I had a digital print of the police badge and just didn't like it so I took them off and painted them instead.

I haven't painted with enamel in a long long time or done smalts but this is a new larger version of their current sign....
