FOUR PAIRS OF SHOES— All could work. But which one works best for me, this outfit and where I’m going today?

Today’s outfit works because the pieces don’t just match—they connect. The soft yellow in the blouse flows into the satin skirt, while the blues give the outfit soft contrast and depth. The luster of the pearls echoes the sheen of the satin, and their soft white connects beautifully with the background of the blouse.
Then came the shoes! The yellow is playful, the white is light and summery, and the velvet Mary Jane is soft and feminine. But for business networking today, the deeper blue kitten heel wins. It picks up the deeper blues in the blouse, adds polish, and its lower vamp and elongated shape help visually lengthen my foot and leg, where as straps and lines across the foot shorten it.
And the finishing touch—the bag. Rather than adding another color, this soft yellow clutch repeats the skirt and keeps the look cohesive. Its clean, structured shape adds a little Classic polish, while carrying it by hand or under my arm, rather than using the strap, keeps the look elevated for business networking.
With a longer torso, wearing the skirt at my true waist also helps create better balance—no belt needed!
