My Side of the Story ā Custom Lead Services
Thereās a lot being said online right now about me and Custom Lead Services. Before anyone makes up their mind based on one-sided posts and Facebook loud mouths, I want to share the full story from my perspective.
I started Custom Lead Services because I was scammed years ago. I wanted to build something better for contractors ā something honest, consistent, and long-term. At that time, Roy Rivera was the manager, and heās actually the one who asked me to start the company because the previous owner was on the run.
I put up the upfront money to build the company and trusted Roy to run the day-to-day. If he needed something, he came to me. Over the last nine years, we grew slowly and steadily. We had almost 80 five-star Google reviews, no chargebacks, no disputes, and no drama.
We werenāt some āpaper companyā like a lot of outfits out there. We ran an actual business ā real staff, W-2 payroll, systems, overhead, taxes, all of it.
Then this year, everything changed:
ā¢ Sales suddenly dropped off
ā¢ People on the team started quitting
ā¢ Out of nowhere, eight disputes hit the account
ā¢ The company bank account went from normal, to zero, to negative
ā¢ And right as this happened, Roy disappeared and went completely ghost
Roy left with all the records and internal information, and I was left trying to piece together what happened while people started reaching out saying I āowed them leads.ā
Hereās another important detail:
The people disputing charges right now are not random one-time buyers. They are long-time contractors who bought from us repeatedly over the years. All of a sudden, theyāre telling me Roy told them to dispute the charges and that I ādonāt pay people.ā
That is incorrect, and I have proof thatās not how weāve done business for the last nine years.
Hereās what Iāve told everyone who has contacted me:
ā¢ I never said I wouldnāt make things right
ā¢ I said I would either fulfill the leads owed or, if that couldnāt be done, things would have to go through the legal process so I can get access to the full records and understand exactly what happened
Expecting me to just start paying money out blindly, without actual records or facts, isnāt responsible. Thatās not āscammingā ā thatās protecting my family, my team, and my clients until the truth is clear.
Meanwhile, some people jumped straight onto Facebook, calling me a scammer, posting partial screenshots, and trying to build their own name off the drama. A couple of āgurusā and a newer lead company are suddenly āthe best in the businessā while taking shots at us. Thatās fine ā everyone can talk big online ā but talking isnāt the same as doing it for almost a decade.
Here are a few more facts:
ā¢ I have nine years of W-2 payroll records showing we paid our people as employees ā up until the last couple weeks when there was literally no money left, and I addressed that with Roy.
ā¢ I own the data company where the calling data came from for the dialers.
ā¢ Roy told me the data was bad and blamed that for the lack of resultsā¦ yet while he was āmissing,ā he pulled data from my database for free for his new company. I have proof of that.
ā¢ Most of the disputes that came in claimed ābad dataā or āno leadsā ā the same line Roy was pushing.
Iām not claiming to be perfect. Iāve made mistakes like anyone whoās actually built something real. But I didnāt get where I am in life by scamming people. I got here by showing up, working hard, and trying to do the right thing ā even when it costs me.
So before you decide based on one loud post:
ā¢ Understand there is an ongoing legal and internal review
ā¢ Understand Iām trying to make things right with real information, not guesses
ā¢ Understand that one loud voice online does not equal the full truth
And let me be very clear:
If Custom Lead Services owes you leads, you can absolutely get in touch with me directly. We can professionally and respectfully work through any issues and find a resolution.
Iām not hiding, and Iām not running. Iām working through a mess that was created under my watch, but not with my knowledge ā and Iām determined to clean it up the right way.
To anyone doing business with the loudest voices on that Facebook thread: look at both sides, ask questions, and think twice before you join a pile-on that can ruin someoneās name and business without the full story.
