I'm LOVING that used my class' final project image to advertise the courses for this fall!! 😍
Of course, getting to teach the class will be even more exciting. October is going to be such a great month!
If you want to learn photo-compositing like you see on so many book covers (like the ones I create) and can get to the Vermont area for a weekend, have I got the class for you! 😉

Just for fun!
Really! This map came about because I wanted to try out a new style so... I just made a map. 🤷‍ What else should I do on a quiet night? 🤣
To make this one relied on a lot of randomized events, which makes me wonder how well it will work creating a custom map... I guess I won't know until I try!
What do you think? Do you like this 3D style? 👍👎

I promised myself I'd pay today and get my sharing back in order. Seriously, where have I been?!?! Not here, obviously... 🤦‍♀️
And what a wonderful post too give back to that I had to repost! I finished this book cover for about a month ago. This is a close up of the main image on the cover in all is lovely detail.
I love this one so much that I told Karin if she didn't want it, is happily keep it! 🤣🥰

Here’s a closer look at the Silver Web mandala created by for the cover of EOLYN. The threads are textured to look like spider silk! In the trilogy, the silver web is a magical amulet crafted by the Witch Queen Briana. She gifts the amulet to her son, Akmael, shortly before her assassination. The amulet allows Akmael to find Eolyn early in Book 1. As the story progresses, the Silver Web becomes a symbol and an instrument of their bond.

On a deeper level, the Silver Web contains Briana’s spell for vengeance on the House of Vortingen, the line of royal kings she was forced to marry into the same that destroyed her family and clan. The Silver Web intertwines fates of all the characters in the series, each one marked to play a role and manifesting Briana‘s spell.

Of course Briana’s son, Akmael, is heir to the throne of Vortingen. So it is a tragic irony that if the spell comes to fruition, her son’s house will fall, bringing an end to his rule.

A different rendition of the Silver Web will appear on each cover of the trilogy. More reveals coming soon!

Work-in-progress sneak peek!

I've been fortunate to be working with author Karin Gastreich, recovering her Silver Web series. I've loved how book 1 and 2 came out and now I'm on to the final book in the trilogy... and this one HAS to have dragons, right? 😁

I'm just starting to work on the shading here, bringing the flat dragon shape into something more... It is always so much fun to see something that looks like a blob slowly emerge from the canvas... er, computer screen!

What are you doing today? Thoughts are with everyone down in Louisiana and Mississippi. Oh my gosh, Ida is a monster storm! 😱

There is no better day as a digital artist than getting actual pictures you created to hold. ♥️
Tomorrow, I drop them off so they can be used to promote my upcoming photo-compositing workshop!
But tonight... They are all MINE! 🥰

The setting is so important in fantasy stories!

I'm really enjoying trying to pair up pre-made book covers with custom chapter headers—like this one based on the cover from Queen Beneath the Sea!

Who protects you from things that go bump in the night?

Night Slayer is one of my pre-made covers that is still looking for the right story to team up with. Do you think he is trying to hide that sword from the wolf??

It has a Supernatural vibe, doesn't it? Which totally makes me want to read the story it goes with... once it finds its story!

Probably the simplest marketing advice out there. 🤣
But its true! If you can think like a reader, especially a reader who'd like your book, then you'll know what will attract the right people to your book.
And that is all marketing really is, learning to think like a reader and then using that to find and attract them to your book. So, whenever you get frustrated, take a minute and ask yourself if you know what your readers want. If not, go and find out!
