Kylie is about to finish her Masters in art education.

She teaches art. She makes art. And she designs the social media graphics and visual content for every CDM client.

That is not a coincidence. The same instinct that makes her a great teacher, knowing what will land with the person on the other side, is exactly what makes her a great designer.

We are really lucky to have her on the team.

Congratulations on the upcoming Masters, Kylie!

We want to introduce a concept we have been thinking about: business esteem.

It is the confidence a business has, or does not have, to show up and take up space online.

Low business esteem: staying quiet because sharing accomplishments feels like bragging.

High business esteem: showing up consistently and telling your real story without apologizing for it.

The businesses that grow are almost never the ones with the biggest budgets. They are the ones who believe their story is worth telling.

Is your marketing as confident as your business actually is?

People ask Emily what she does all day.

The short answer: she lives inside other people's businesses.

Learning what makes them different. Reading competitor sites. Noticing when a client's voice has shifted and figuring out why. Asking questions most people do not expect.

The longer answer: she spends a lot of time thinking about why good businesses are invisible online when they absolutely should not be.

And then she fixes it.

That is the whole job.

You've probably seen the news about the Callaway and Good Good Golf ad. It showed a man shoving a woman to the ground, and it never should have gone out. Violence against women is never funny, full stop.

We're not sharing this to pile on. We're sharing it because it's a good reminder of something we take seriously with every client: real collaboration, built on trust, at every stage of the process.

Intent doesn't travel with the content. Whatever made sense in the room doesn't always make sense once it's on someone's screen. That's why we believe in a real partnership on every piece of content, not just one set of eyes on it. That collaboration is what catches things early and keeps everything true to your brand voice.

There is a moment we see with almost every new client.

We ask what makes them different from everyone else doing what they do. And there is a pause.

Not because they do not know. Because nobody has ever asked.

That pause is why we do this work. It means there is a real story in there that has never made it into their marketing.

Finding it and telling it is the whole job.

AI can write your captions, design your graphics, and generate a month of content in an afternoon.

What it cannot do is figure out who you actually are and why someone should choose you.

That part is still human. And it is still the most important part.

The businesses getting real results from AI are the ones who had a clear sense of their story and strategy before they started using it. The ones struggling are just producing more content faster without fixing the underlying problem.

More output is not the same as better results.

Unpopular opinion: you do not need to be on every platform.

One platform done really well beats five platforms done badly. Every single time.

The question is not 'should we be on TikTok?' It is 'where are our actual clients and can we show up there consistently?'

Start there. Own it. Then think about what is next.

The most common content mistake we see from small businesses?

Playing small.

Not wanting to share their story. Not wanting to talk about what makes them different. Worried it comes across as bragging.

But here is the thing: nobody is going to champion your business louder than you. And the businesses that are growing have figured that out.

Your story is not bragging. It is the reason someone picks you over everyone else.

Show up. Take up space. Share who you actually are. That's the content that works.

Extremely clever marketing, IKEA.

Newsjacking: when a brand hijacks a trending topic and makes it their own. This is exactly how it’s done.

(And yes we’re still laughing and maybe raising our hand a little)
