I was an art director at 2 ad agencies in Chicago,...Needham, Harper & Steers, and The Leo Burnett Company. For 22 years (1979-2001), I created McDonaldland and Happy Meal commercials. I worked on scripts with my writing partners, and then drew storyboards to show what the commercial would look like. When it was time to film, we supervised all of the various aspects of putting a commercial together.

Behind the scenes. Puppeteers Carl J. Johnson and a hidden Tony Urbano puppeteer the Hamburglar closeup puppet for a scene in 1986’s “The Hamburglar Touch”. (Tim Blaney assists on the left). When we redesigned the Hamburglar walk around costume in 1986 we also created a closeup puppet that allowed for facial expressions. Unfortunately the puppet was only used for a few years.
