and happy everyone!
Today’s will revolve around the education of 3 facets of our business: Voice Over/Acting, Graphic Design and Branding.
1. Voice Over/Acting: In the world of VO/VA, a lot of people don’t recognize how many different niches are within the industry. Most people hear, “Voice Acting” and immediately think of Cartoons. Now, while Cartoons/Animation is a major chunk of the industry, there are also many others like:
- Video Games
- Audio Books/Narration
- Promos
- Commercials
- E-Learning
And several others!
The bottom line is this, the VO/VA industry is very broad and very competitive, so if this is something that interests you, my recommendation is to start by researching each niche and picking the one or 2 that interest you the most!
2. Graphic Design: “A picture is worth a thousand words.”
Graphic design is a visual communication that helps us innovatively present our thoughts and ideas. Verbal communication aside, graphic design is another form of communication that helps us to connect and deliver a message to everyone in several different forms.
It is everywhere: from the pack of gum in your purse to the Ads on TikTok. Without graphic design, everything would be just plain white paper with generic writing, no images, and no typography (text).
Scientifically speaking, Experts say that our brain has an easier time remembering visual stimuli over the other forms and **Ninety percent of information is transmitted visually in the human brain**(Article found below).
That said, Graphic design is visually oriented and if you have a business, you need captivating graphics to create stunning marketing materials which include:
- Logo Design
- Brochure Design
- Business Card Design
- Website Design & Development
- Stationery Design
and the list goes on!
Think about a logo for a moment, it is the structure of your organization’s brand identity and it can used in several different parts of your business, such as printed equipment, your website, social media, and much more. A unique logo design identifies your brand individually from others and gives your customers/viewers a better understanding of who you are and what you represent. It is also usually the first thing your customers see as well.
Besides the centrality of graphic design to business and marketing, it also adds color and spice to the world. To imagine a world without graphic designs is, to a certain degree, to think of a world without a sign to direct people as they go on the streets and highways; or one in which every house is built the same size, shape, and painted the same color. Where every garment, shoe and jewelry piece uses just about the same premodern crude styles with no peculiar branding; and wherein every printed or handwritten material takes the same typeface or script.
No doubt, such a world would be too dull to live in.
In closing, though you may not have realized it before, graphic design truly is an incredibly important aspect of human life and living in the modern age. It touches on virtually every dimension of our being—spiritual, psychological, emotional, aesthetically, physically, materialistically, etc.
3. Branding: Embrace a level of transparency within your organization/business. A lot of businesses out there avoid being transparent in any way, then wonder why their customer base doesn't trust their brand. New and upcoming businesses, like 1st Phorm and Four Sigmatic understand this concept and show transparency in several areas like their products, their origin stories, and even their charity contributions.
Now, we must state that their is a line you don't want to cross, such as financial information, but the premise is to not be afraid to show off parts of yourself through your brand. Our favorite piece of advice is to start with your origin story and do not be afraid to share your failures. These two concepts alone can go along way when it comes to establishing trust with your target audience.
