Here's some free web knowledge for everyone...
A lot of people are experiencing website issues when upgrading to PHP 7.2, especially with WordPress.
Nearly 80% of the open web is on PHP.
[References at end of post]
1 - First off, UPGRADE. PHP 5.6 (and PHP 7.0) recently reached their End of Life support dates for security issues and are no longer maintained.
--- THEY ARE INSECURE ---
2 - Second, about 70% of PHP websites are still on PHP 5! If you're not sure, you should check - you could be at risk of losing your site or having it become a liability to your business.
--- We can check for FREE ---
3 - Third, if you upgrade yourself, check everything out and make sure it's still working. Common issues we've seen: the inability to login to the backend, some broken sections of the site, or the whole site going blank.
--- BACKUP & TEST BEFORE you upgrade ---
4 - If you are unsure, talk to your hosting provider, they might be able to do it for free or offer some guidance.
5 - If you don't want to be bothered to upgrade, at least make sure your Cyber Insurance policy is up to date and covers you for this. Don't risk a business terminating event for something stupid like liability.
--- We have Cyber Insurance Partners - Just ASK! ---
6 - If you learned something useful and want to pass it along to help others, or you already knew but know someone who could benefit from reading it, please like, share, or tag someone who could use it! Thanks :)
Have a great day!
