It's been ages since I've posted but I've been busy...check out the logo I did for the lovely LuAnn who is the creative spirit behind Another Vintage Day. She shares her travels, vintage thriftiquing finds and so many interesting tidbits about life lessons and traditions from yesteryears. The inspiration for her logo: ornate like a vintage brooch, in a circle like a seal, yet easy to read with a classic font.

Oh, how true! Ask a graphic designer and they will likely tell you that Comic Sans is their least favorite and, in their opinion, the most over-used font. 😜

I had the pleasure of meeting many wonderful women at the Rompers and Rose event this week. Many thanks to Robin Allen, Stephanie Antoinette Laur, and Tribe Called Boss for creating such a fabulous evening! Check out the Tribe Called Boss page, like it and join us at the next event!

I'm working on several ideas for blogs. I'm curious: do you follow a daily news blog or email blast such as Bright, Skimm, etc? If so, would you share which is your favorite and why?

Good morning! This morning, I'm proofreading a brochure. Do you know the best tool to use to proofread a project that you have been working on for days, perhaps weeks? A fresh pair of eyes! Ask someone else to skim it over and see if they catch any typographical or style errors that you may have missed. It's easy to miss something obvious when you are the one who created the project. You know it well enough that you can easily skip over a detail.
A bonus tip: read the writing backward! I mean start at the end of the project and read each sentence slowly, working your way to the beginning. That makes you concentrate and not just skim over the words you have written.

It's Tackle It Tuesday! Tackle a project that you've been meaning to do. I find that there are two schools of thought on how to tackle a daunting task. 1) Put aside anything that isn't as important and tackle the project head-on. Get it done. 2) Being mindful of your deadline, first, take care of all the little things that are cluttering your desk and calendar and then tackle the big project.

I tend to follow #2 because, while I'm clearing the small projects, I'm mulling how to tackle the big project in my mind. And I like to have everything else done to be able to solely focus on the big project.

How about you? What's your project tackling method?

Friday is Free to be Creative Day! How about your office or workspace? What does my office have to do with branding and marketing, you ask? Well, do you feel creative and inspired in your workspace? Here are some tips to make your space into a creative environment.

I love the tip about storing unused items away. I have a closet where my supplies and files are tucked away. Keeping the clutter off my desk gives me the space for creativity. I also have a window that has a mountain view. That gives me my ahhhh moment when I need it. I can step right outside through the patio door to get some fresh air and stretch my legs. I'm still working on the pops of color. I'll post my office when I have that done.

How about you? How's your workspace?

You can easily make your small startup office space more creative than it is. Try the following recommendations.

Good morning! It's the beginning of a new week. Question: do you start your week Monday morning by making your "to do" list while sipping from a big cup of hot coffee? Or do you plan out the upcoming week on Sunday evening? Feel free to share your hints on how you plan your week.

Planning is important to set you up for a successful week. Think of making your marketing plan for the week like planning a road trip. You want to get to your destination (having a positive week) and be sure to hit those landmarks along the way (mentioning your upcoming event, a special deal for your clients, launching new merchandise or services). So, you need a map to get where you are going and to keep you on track. That's why you create a plan.

I find that, for me, mapping the week out is best done with a big cup of coffee. Now let's go do it and get on our way to a fabulous week!
