I thought I would take a minute to share this with a story.
Six years ago I got lost driving around on the south side of Wichita. I finally found a street I recognized on Broadway and as I was driving home, I passed a large Victorian house with a for sale sign. I thought to myself “That would be the perfect spot for a coffee shop”. I called my dad to tell him about it and we both were inspired. We knew we wanted to start a shop together and by the grace of God we were able to purchase the house. That following summer we hosted a block barbecue and met the folks at the Neighboring Movement who worked with us to obtain some of Meads Corner’s old equipment. Since then we started learning and researching what it would take to make our dream a reality.
On January 5th my world came crashing down. My dad passed away quite suddenly and I was left reeling. He knew so much more than me about business things and I was lost. Several months later I found a class that would help me find some new clarity and motivation to push forward with this dream we had together. This coffee shop is more than just my dream. It was my dads dream as well to form a legacy that would live on. Something that could change the South Central neighborhood into something amazing.
I am raising funds via gofundme as well as attempting to apply for a business loan to open up in a space on Harry and Broadway until the big house on broadway is ready. Please consider donating, sharing, and praying for this journey that I’m on. And remember us when you think of coffee:)
