There’s a thousand logical reasons to not move forward with a calling that’s been set upon your heart.
Your financial situation is not going to provide enough funds for it. You’ll start once your bank account hit $____.
You aren’t skilled enough yet. You’ll start once you get better.
You don’t have enough time to put into it. You’ll start once your kids are in school.
I’m too old to start now, everyone in the industry is younger. I missed my chance.
I don’t know the right people. Everyone else has more support and connections than I do.
People will think I’m stupid for trying. What if I put myself out there and fail?
I have a good enough life. It’s a silly desire. Why would I want to risk changing anything?
Here’s just a short list of reasons. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a difference in a dream and calling and knowing that is crucial, but both are important in life.
For both, people get hung up on the big picture, the well-built, established goal. That’s where the halts come. It’s too big and too much to achieve. It’s overwhelming.
Stop only focusing on that big picture. What’s a small step you can make in the next week to start? Build a business page, buy a camera, take on a project horse, go to church, reach out to someone in the industry you want to learn from. Just start with little steps. Start now. Build slowly. It will take time, but time passes either way.
If God called you to it, he will equip you for it. You don’t have to come pre-equipped. Very few people in the industry started out having all the answers and all the tools. They built it over years and years.
