You’ve seen the “SEO is on the rise” meme circulating around social media…
The Google Trends chart is real.
But I think a lot of people are interpreting it the wrong way.
Yes, searches for “SEO” are surging.
But I don’t believe that means traditional SEO is suddenly having some massive comeback.
I think it means something much bigger:
People are trying to understand how discovery works now.
ChatGPT. Gemini. Perplexity. AI Overviews. Answer engines. AI citations. Brand recommendations.
The term people still know is “SEO.”
But the problem they’re trying to solve has changed.
The real question isn’t just:
“How do I rank on Google?”
It’s becoming:
“How does my brand become the answer?”
That’s the shift.
SEO isn’t dying.
It’s evolving into AI Search, AEO, GEO, entity optimization, citation visibility, and brand authority.
The chart isn’t just showing rising interest in SEO.
It’s showing rising urgency around AI discovery.
