Keriann Thompson is a photographer whose creative hunger was stimulated early in her life living on a Colorado ranch. While raising 4H livestock and competing in clothing construction competitions to the state level, she learned to balance both creativity and discipline. Her University Career produced a Bachelor of Science degree in Apparel Design and Production from Colorado State University; Whi
le her clothing designs went on to participate in a National Exhibition in Washingto D.C. The lessons gained in her youth found new horizons and flowered when they combined with and were stimulated by the educational requirements of her degree. Her life experience, merging with the artistic drawing requirements of the illustrations for her clothing designs and tempered by the discipline of the design requirements for production; developed within her a unique ability to see the light, composition and emotion of a scene. That unexpected yet fortunate combination has opened new opportunities to express her creative hunger; and to preserve and communicate the emotion of a scene by way of her photography. Her portraiture style is very casual in feel. It is how she prefers to approach each session. She strives to capture the natural, relaxed personality of her subjects; Not the awkward, artificial, posed look that records a face but doesn't capture the person behind the eyes. She employs various perspective, lighting, composition, and post production editing techniques to capture the personality of her subjects in the fleeting moments they are in front of her lens.
