When someone searches for a local service, they'll probably see a Google Business Profile before they ever visit a company’s website.
That makes your profile something like your local front door.
It helps customers determine:
- Whether you provide the service they need
- Whether you serve their area
- Whether other customers trust you
- Whether the business appears active
- How easy it is to contact you
Unfortunately, many businesses treat their profile like a one-time setup project.
They claim it, enter the basic information, upload a logo—and rarely look at it again.
Meanwhile, hours change. Services change. Photos get old. Reviews go unanswered. Important profile sections remain incomplete.
The business may be active and growing in the real world while looking neglected online.
Here’s a worthwhile exercise:
- Search for your business by name. Then search for one of your primary services in the area you serve.
- Look closely at the business information, categories, services, photos, reviews, hours, website link, and contact options.
- Try to forget everything you already know about the company. Evaluate only the business Google is presenting to a potential customer.
Does it look accurate, active, and trustworthy?
That’s the version of your business many customers meet first.
