The number of Shopify apps I remove during a website audit would probably surprise you!
Not all apps are bad... Some are great and really do earn their spot in a retailers app stack. But somewhere along the way, "there's an app for that" turned into a backend running a dozen subscriptions that slow your site down and work against each other more than they help increase your bottom line.
Every app adds code and that code can drag your load speed, can create conflict between other apps, and hands store access to outside developers. For a retailer whose website is the revenue driver of their business, that's a real big cost.
So when I work with a client on their Shopify store, we get intentional and look at what each app is actually doing, whether the theme can already handle it natively, and whether it's worth keeping. More often than not, a cleaner stack plus smart theme customization wins.
Less to manage + less to pay for = A site that actually sells
I broke the whole thing down in a new blog post, including the handful of apps I do recommend and why. Link's in my bio!
