Want to know the three biggest business design trends I’m observing today? Let’s dive right in with these AI images I created while wondering what I might look like if I were a room🔮. And let’s forget that it’s been four years since my last post, shall we?
#1: Normalize Texture: I’m noticing a shift towards maximalism in design, moving away from the minimalist trend. This might sound surprising, but in a world where being eclectic also means recycling the past (sustainability trend) ♻️ or holding onto memories (our lonely culture) 🕯️, I see this as a positive move. Texture adds personality and makes us more approachable.
#2: Whistle Blow Corporate: It’s time for corporate America to embrace a more vibrant and exciting color palette. 🪲Playing it safe or sticking to the same old stock photos is no longer a viable strategy for growth. B2C and even B2B companies are missing out on a huge opportunity by dismissing Neon Pink and velvety emerald green. Think Lyft. Not right. See what I did there? 🤭
#3: Embrace the Uneven: 🦩While businesses have always been focused on capturing as much as possible from their consumers, many successful startups I’ve worked with recently are embracing the idea of capturing only what they can intentionally grasp. Take ASMR candy boutique Silky Gems, for example. 🍬 How niche can one go? Quite niche, it seems. But they’re crushing it with their unique gem-shaped, crunchy, and chewy sparkling candies, with orders taking over a month to fulfill (thanks to the ASMR artists who’ve organically grown them). The bottom line? Stay weird, Austin. Know what I mean?
