Connected Efforts! This means, with your marketing, don’t treat each platform you create content for as totally separate with vastly different messaging and topics.

Pick your top topics (planting/growing tips, new/featured plants, products to help customer be successful, sales/promotions, etc.) and keep writing about them across all platforms.

You can write about them from different angles and use different formats (images, video/reels, carousels) to keep your audience interested and engaged, but keep the messaging cohesive and clear.

It’s Wednesday! Any hydrangea lovers out there? This one’s for you! features the Eclipse Bigleaf Hydrangea — with dark purple leaves that create quite the drama in the garden!

Contrast is one of those design elements that take a pretty good garden and make it spectacular. Contrast is size, color, shape, and texture — and we think this stunning hydrangea boasts all of that.

What would you plant with this gorgeous shrub?

Rachel isn't alone.

In fact, there's a term for it: cramscaping.

Cramscaping is the art (or habit) of squeezing just one more plant into the garden. It starts with a well-thought-out design and ends with, "Well, technically there is six inches of empty space right there..."

Gardeners know that plants are a lot like potato chips. You rarely stop at just one.

So be honest: Are you a careful planner, or are you a cramscaper?

Drop a 🌿 in the comments if you've ever brought home a plant with absolutely no idea where you were going to put it.

One of the biggest marketing mistakes we see? Refusing to admit when something isn't working.

Maybe it's the social media strategy you've been using for three years. Maybe it's the email campaign nobody is opening. Maybe it's the website popup that's annoying everyone except the person who created it.

The mistake isn't trying something that fails. The mistake is doubling down on it because you've already invested time, money, or pride into it.

Good marketers don't get everything right. They test, learn, adjust, and pivot.

If the data says it's not working, LISTEN.

If your customers are telling you something, LISTEN.

If your gut is saying, "This isn't getting us where we want to go," definitely listen.

Changing direction isn't failure. It's strategy. The goal isn't to prove you were right. The goal is to get results.

Happy 1st day of summer, also known as the summer solstice!

From Wikipedia:
“The summer solstice or estival solstice[i] occurs when one of Earth's poles has its maximum tilt toward the Sun. It happens twice yearly, once in each hemisphere (Northern and Southern). The summer solstice is the day with the longest period of daylight and shortest night of the year in that hemisphere, when the sun is at its highest position in the sky. At either pole there is continuous daylight at the time of its summer solstice. The opposite event is the winter solstice.”

Our client, CobraHead recently dropped a limited-edition, red version of their beloved tool. The response? Gardeners loved it!

Why?

Part of it was practical. The bright red handle is easy to spot when it’s left in a garden bed (we’ve all done it).

Part of it was novelty. Gardeners already love the tool. The new color gave them a reason to grab another one.

Sparking excitement doesn’t always require reinventing the wheel. Sometimes a little tweak can drive sales.

What’s the simplest change you’ve made that’s made a surprising impact?

We’ve been there. You usually plan your posts ahead of time and schedule them so you don’t fall behind. But every now and then, you forget (it’s ok, you’re human!) and rather than skip a day, you want to post something quickly.

Here are some ideas for you:

✔️ Review what your company does for its customers

✔️ Highlight a product

✔️ Introduce a team member

✔️ Create a quick seasonal tip

✔️ Ask a fun question

✔️ Post an older blog post “from the archives”

✔️ Tell the story of your company

And let’s be clear — any one of those topics are GREAT to post when you’re planning ahead. They simply require less time to prepare, so they’re also ideal for those OOPS days.

Any one of you have a go-to topic to post when you almost forgot to post?

It’s ! Did you know that when your business’s contact information is accurately noted on your website, it helps with local SEO (search engine optimization)? It does!

And while we’re talking about it, if you do social media, remember to put your location in your profile description. This is more important when you sell items and have a physical store/center/shop. There’s nothing more frustrating than wanting to buy from someone but can’t figure out where they are!

We recommend doing a twice a year check up on your content platforms to ensure basic information is up to date.
