๐จSCAM ALERT!๐จ
Realtors, have you ever received a Facebook message or a comment warning you about Terms of Service violations, copyright claims on your listing photos, or threatening to close your account?
โ ๏ธThese messages are usually scams attempting to steal your login information.โ ๏ธ
This recently happened to one of our social media management clients. Less than a day after her first Facebook ad went out, she began receiving multiple versions of these kinds of messages. Naturally, with a few hundred people following her business profile, she did NOT want to have it closed down. We reassured her that she wasn't about to be shut down, blocked the fake accounts so they couldn't harass her anymore, and reported the fake accounts to Facebook so they couldn't continue to harass and scam other realtors either.
The truth is, Facebook is cold and efficient. They usually don't give warnings like "24 hour notices", "pending suspension", etc. Facebook also doesn't contact you though Messenger. They usually just suspend you temporarily or permanently without notice. At best, they may include an appeal link after they suspend you.
Don't trust warnings that come through Messenger, and be cautious. If something seems suspicious, report it right away!
If this phishing scam happens to you: DO NOT ENGAGE WITH THE OTHER USER! First, REPORT the account; then BLOCK the user! ๐ก๏ธ
