It’s not every day you get to rebrand one of your favorite local breweries. This is one of those occasions.
When the new owners of Radar Brewing Company came to us, they had a clear vision of evolving the brewery into a communal place. Not just for those who enjoy beer, but for local organizations to spread their mission and for small businesses to make connections.
To create a destination where intentional connection is the norm, not the exception.
"When people feel ownership, they come back differently." – Matt Armbruster, owner, Southern Drift Brewing Co.
Backed by community conversations and brewery research, we set out to build intentional connection over a pint. This couldn't just be a new logo, it needed to be a brand system built to grow with the business, from the taproom to the tap list. Because the space and those you connect with are just as important as great beer.
We built the new identity around what we call "The Rookery Effect," the way penguins huddle together through storms and return to the same communal place year after year. In the wild, they exchange pebbles as tokens during nesting season, small gestures that build lasting bonds.
That idea became a full character and a key piece of the brewery’s distinctive brand assets: a dignified, easy-going penguin mascot who reads like the regular who's been on that barstool long enough to know everyone's name, without ever being loud about it.
A penguin that not only brings their family, but friends and neighbors, too.
Come for the beer. Stay for each other.
Stand Tall.
