Very productive day at Koch Designs. The Burnt Edge Custom Creations trailer turned out awesome. Super happy with the install process and how everything went. My father and I make a great team, and I want to thank him for his assistance. A huge thank you goes out to Dylan at BECC for giving me the opportunity to do this. If I could do jobs like this every day, it would be a dream.

Tomorrow is the big day. So excited to do this install for Burnt Edge Custom Creations. Matte black vinyl on a white trailer - awesome combo. My father and I will be busy beavers tomorrow morning, and can't wait to show the final outcome. Also, it looks like Fresh Rides Pro Wash did a great job cleaning it up. Once again, it's so great to see local businesses working together.

Fun fact: One of the coolest things ever is that I am an end-user of some of the products that are made where my full-time career is at. Between vinyl and application tape, it's awesome to see that I sometimes put Nekoosa products to use. 4075RLA application tape is my overall go-to (my favorite for most graphics and installs that I deal with), and I've been trying out some CV300 series vinyl, which is great. Cuts and weeds well! I've always used Oracal 651 Series vinyl over the years, but it's been so cool dabbling with some Nekoosa products.

After spending the last week troubleshooting my Roland BN‑20A printer, I’ve made the decision to step away from printing and return to what this business was built on — clean design work and precise vinyl cutting.

A lot of you have been with me since the early days, back when I was running as Devyn’s Custom Graphics. For the first four years, it was just me, my original cutter, and a whole lot of learning. In 2020, I made things official and formed Koch Designs LLC, taking everything I’d built and turning it into something real and long‑term.

The printer has definitely been a learning experience, but at the end of the day, it just doesn’t align with what my business is truly about. With the low volume of printing I do each year, the upkeep and maintenance simply don’t make sense. Rather than spending time fighting with equipment, I want to put my energy back into the parts of this craft that I enjoy and that I know I can deliver consistently:
custom decals, vinyl work, trailers, vehicle, sleds, and all the design jobs you trust me with.

I’m also excited to share a big personal update: I’ll be buying my parents’ house in the near future, and the current garage shop will become the new dedicated home for Koch Designs LLC. Right now my workspace is in the basement, so moving everything into the garage shop will give me more room, a better layout, and a more efficient setup for the work I do.

I’ll be transitioning fully back to vinyl‑only services.
Nothing is changing with my design work or the quality you’re used to — this shift actually lets me focus even more on what I do best.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Koch Designs LLC from the Devyn’s Custom Graphics days all the way to now. This business has always been about growth, family, and doing things the right way, and I’m excited for this next chapter with a clearer focus and a lot less printer stress.

This has been one of the hardest decisions I have ever made, but I am keeping my head up and I am going to continue providing an amazing service.

I miss the DCG days.. can't believe I'm creeping up on 10 years of doing graphics. 4 years as DCG and 6 years as Koch Designs. Fun fact: the second image of doing a trace of my dad's truck was the first project I ever did in highschool. First ever experience with vectorizing and doing cleanup with node editing. Time sure flies!

The joys of printer maintenance.. it's been a learning curve for me and a lot of troubleshooting, but a huge thanks goes to my dad after I struggled for a few days on some printing issues. Over the weekend, I replaced the cap top, new wipers, and a new yellow and cyan ink cartridges. Well.. during my last print job, yellow and cyan ran out fully (which I didn't want to run fully out) and got air in the lines.. And I have been fighting some other issues. 90% are good now, and after spending a few hours tonight on a deep clean, I am keeping my fingers crossed for a successful test print tonight after we let everything acclimate after turning it back on. Been a long few nights past midnight struggling, but I am hopeful! It's never skipped a beat for 3 years, but all machines need maintenance, and I'm glad to have a maintenance tech in the family that helped me trudge through this! I love challenges, but stepping up my game with this printer has been a challenge coming from normal vinyl plotters. Excited to overcome the challenge, gain some experience, and start successful prints again!

A huge thanks goes out to Tanner at Fresh Rides Pro Wash for giving me the opportunity to make some boat decals for one of his customers. These Malibu decals turned out awesome. Looking forward to seeing how they look after Tanner installs them. Gloss Black with a Charcoal Metallic border🔥
