After getting asked often about low response rates to job applications, my answer is that Workday / HR platform setup is important:

- Asking applicants to fill out excessive information and/or too many steps can be very frustrating leading to a high abandonment of your job application.

- Busy applicants will quickly abandon your opportunity simply for another job application that is more user-friendly.

- Why? Because a highly qualified candidate who's in demand probably won't devote excessive time to a lengthy or even excruciating job application. The process reflects poorly on your company and your process.

- The means that the only applicants who are willing to endure that and complete the process might not the most qualified. In short, you might not getting the best applicants.

- Keep it as short and simple as possible. Some questions can be answered in a follow up or upon hire. The ultimate goal is to hire the best people, all other objectives are secondary.
