In the United States, there’s always been a lack of independent halal verification and certification by reliable local scholars. The local Muslim population, comprising of thousands of families spread across the region, often ask their local scholars where to purchase hand slaughtered halal meat. Recognizing the multitude of queries into the matter and a deficit of fitting answers thereof, we comm
enced the “Halal Certification Council.”
The need for the Council’s inception was simple enough. With the growing number of restaurants and shops advertising and selling “zabihah halal” meat, along with the growing Muslim population inquiring about the methods of zabihah halal, it seemed instinctive enough that a “Halal Certification Council” be created. Under the guidance of a collective group of Islamic scholars, we can reassure proper oversight and guidance as well as an effective marketing resource through the respective Islamic centers. The publics’ inquiries of halal items is testimony to the fact that the people would rather rely upon scholars in terms of halal and haram rather than organizations who have no scholarly influence behind them. Our goal is simple: Standardize the correct practices of hand slaughtered halal with the implementation of proper research, oversight, verification, and certification of halal meat in the United States. This will be done with our outreach within the local communities and to the local Islamic Scholars who serve within those communities. We will be able to stress the importance of certified hand slaughtered halal meat to the scholars in order to induce a yearning for more hand slaughtered meat which is otherwise lacking within our Muslim communities today.
