It started with receiving a sewing machine on Mother's Day in 2012 and a desire to learn how to sew. Armed with loads of scarp fabric, YouTube tutorials, and a goal to succeed I spent hours learning how to use my machine, fix problems, sew different types of fabric, install zippers, etc. Using this new found skill to fulfill needs that occurred in Motherhood. I began to handcraft items for myself
and The Tiny Human [my son]. By fulfilling the needs of my family I soon realized other families had those same needs. Gradually handcrafting for others became a more regular occurrence. In August of 2013 The Tiny Human was established to fulfill the needs of Moms and young children through handcrafted and custom-made accessories. After a couple of years in business The Tiny Human started to grow up and offer more items and services. Sharp Plant is the combination of my married name Sharp and my maiden name LaPlante. Choosing a pineapple as a logo was two-fold: pineapples are sharp plants with spikey leaves and traditionally pineapples are a symbol of hospitality.
