Looking for an Opportunity that you can really succeed at?

There I was working as many hours as I could without stressing the bookkeeper too much about having to figure out the overtime. I was able to pay my bills and was trying to save up a little for Christmas in a few months. It wasn’t my “ideal” job. In fact, the greatest joy of it was that I got to work with my youngest daughter. Since I had spent over half of my adult life raising five children, I came into the workforce pretty much as “unskilled labor”.
Not that raising five kids didn’t take skills! I’m a wiz at organization, money management and quite a few other areas! Even the fact that I had worked for myself as an independent contractor teaching and as a certified massage therapist didn’t seem to matter much in the world I now found myself competing in.
My job title was “seasonal farm labor” and that was what I did. It was hard, physical work and the idea that I might have to do this until I died (I had no retirement and very little social security built up) was daunting. But, at least I had a job that paid me enough to meet my bills.
Then something happened. The union contacted all the people working in the group I worked with and told us that, if we had over a certain amount of hours, by contract, the University where I worked would have to hire us on full time. Well, I had over twice as many hours as they stated. It would mean some security and –wooohooo--benefits. So, I became a full time hire.
As soon as that happened, the professor that we worked for declared that he couldn’t afford us and, after being “full time” for all of one month, we got laid off! It was devastating.
Now, I was back in the competition for another job. I turned in resumes and applied to everything I could find – a lot of it temp for the Christmas season. (Yep, we got laid off just before Christmas.) The only one that showed interest was Target, so I hired on as a cashier. It didn’t pay me enough to make my rent, let alone pay the rest of my bills.
My schedule was never the same one week to the next (heck, one day to the next!) I had one week, the week just before Christmas, when I actually worked 35 hours, but the rest of the time it was less. Then I was no longer on the schedule after the 1rst of the year. That was how I found out I was laid off, again.
So, the search began again. There was an ad for a work-at-home job and I clicked on it. That was when I found this opportunity. It hit all my categories: work for myself at home, be able to work when I wanted to, for how long I wanted to; not be dependent on any one location (I can work anywhere I have an internet connection); and I would have the opportunity to make enough money to not have to worry about retirement!
