This bill affects repair shops AND you, the owner of digital equipment (i.e., phones, laptops, computers).

"PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:

This bill require original equipment manufacturers (OEM) to make diagnostic and repair information for digital electronic parts and equipment available to independent repair providers and consumers if such parts and repair information are also available to OEM authorized repair providers."

Important excerpt directly from the bill:

"2. Requirements. (a) For digital electronic equipment, and parts for
24 such equipment, sold or used in this state, an original equipment
25 manufacturer shall make available, for purposes of diagnosis, mainte-
26 nance, or repair, to any independent repair provider, or to the owner of
27 digital electronic equipment manufactured by or on behalf of, or sold
28 by, the original equipment manufacturer, on fair and reasonable terms,
29 documentation, parts, and tools, inclusive of any updates to information
30 or embedded software."

Relates to the sale of digital electronic equipment; requires original equipment manufacturers to provide diagnostic and repair information.
