Social Media users BEAWARE!
We just helped someone recover their instagram account and the way the hacker got access was quite creative.

EDIT: Pictures added of accounts that commented on this post to try and promote their fake pages. Trying to further fool you into getting pfished and hacked. Comments have now been limited on this post to avoid trickery.

SAGA - Two Facebook messenger users, brother and sister, both had their Facebook and Messenger accounts hacked. The hackers studied the messages in those two accounts, then started messaging friends in a way that sounded normal. They knew where the last conversations left off and they knew how to make it sound like they were just picking up the conversation. So when they got to messaging the hacking victim that I was helping, the sister says, hey my brother has been trying to get in touch with you. She asked for the victim's phone number and his instagram ID during their chat. When the victim messaged the brother, the brother responded in line with the sister. Next thing the victim knew, his instagram was hacked and he could not get access. Eventually, after they know you trust them, these people will ask for help... they just need you to send them some money.

When something like this happens, you need to act fast. If your social media account is not up to date with your current email address and phone number, it could make things more difficult. If you don't remember the password to your accounts email, because it is old, that is a problem... especially if your phone number attached to that email is an old phone number. Spend a day and update your accounts!

Lesson here is: First, if someone is asking for personal information, there is no harm to asking to give it over the phone instead of in a message. If it is a hacker, they likely won't get on the phone with you unless they are very brazen (and some are). Then, to simplify your life, keep all your accounts contact information current! It is very important, expecially if you do not always remember your password. Also, set up 2-factor authentication. If you need help, we do that!

Story Time - In 1999 about a year after I had started working at my first job in Real Estate (I was an assistant), I was a little famous in our office for my Photoshop skills. Back then it wasn't about making the real estate pictures look better... it was about making the agents look younger! 😆 I was 21, but the agents in their 40's - 50's were loving that I could remove wrinkles. So, it was the Photoshop make-over that I was famous for in our little office, making those agents look more youthful on their business card.

Now we don't need photoshop to give people make-overs any more, but I am offering my Adobe skill set to you all through this new business. If you need photoshoping, photo enhancement, graphic or vector creation, or basic graphic animation, we do that! - Jenny

I have been helping people for years figure out online advertising and websites. Both of these have grown into their own beast! It used to be simple and now it is complicated, but there is so much more to starting, running, and advertising your buisness. Since I have started this page, I have had the opportunity to speak with a number of business owners and potential startup owners who have had various questions or concerns. I am happy to have those disucssions. Sometimes you just need a person to talk to and to figure out the details with. If I am lucky, I get to learn something too!

When you are naming your business there are a few things to think about.
1. Will the business name require a Ficticious Business Name aka DBA*? If your last name is NOT part of the business name, then yes. If this is the case, you must obtain the DBA before you can open a business bank account for your business.
2. Is my business name already taken? If this is the case, you will find online marketing a bit more challenging. This is because it is important to have consistency across advertising platforms. If you can't obtain a social media user name or domain name similar to your company name, because it's already been taken, this can create confusion with your customers and cause you to lose sales. It can also cost you more in advertising dollars to compete with the other businesses with similar names, even if they provide a completely different service.
3. Is it easy for people to remember? If you want people to remember you and recommend you, you don't want your business name to be too complicated. It may be difficult to find you if your business name is hard to spell or remember.

There are more reasons it is important to carefully select your business name and we can go over these things with you and help you decide if your business name will be helpful or harmful for your business goals.

When it comes to getting customers, one of the most important things to do is set your business up for success online. Many business owners miss this vital piece of the puzzle because they have a great product that people love or they get busy right away leading them to believe that what they are doing is enough. Unfortunately, it can be a bit too late once a business owner realized that those things may not sustain them. If this is you, thats OK. You are going to have a bump in the road, but you can recover. Of course, we would love to help you!

Last month, my small business took a big hit in sales. That is just a product of the Real Estate Market... it really can be feast or famine! Things are slowly starting to pick back up, but getting business for the last 5 years has been fairly easy. I am experienced in this industry (24 years in) and I have a lot of repeat business and client referrals, so I consider myself lucky. I started talking to my small business friends and about 90% are struggling right now and these are vastly different industries. I have jumped in and offered help to these people, which got me thinking. I should streamline my small business startup assistance and ad set up, so that I can officially help more people outside of just my friends and family. I have been studying this stuff for at least 20 years. I had the opportunity to learn to code websites before template sites were a thing. I learned how to run search engine ads when it was one of the most popular things to do and was very competitive. That was really the only way to advertise online. Now there are so many ways and it is changing everyday. It really is hard to keep up, but I enjoy it! I have a few people who are also pretty dialed in and we are wanting to make this attainable for all you local small business owners, because we really are all in this together!
