STORM UPDATE, 10/6/2024, 3:30 pm:
This afternoon we participated in calls with Local and County leadership as well as the US National Weather Service Jacksonville Florida regarding Hurricane Milton. Here is what you need to know:
🟥 Do not focus on Milton's exact track. Impacts can occur well outside the area enclosed by the cone
🟥 Milton is favoring Hurricane Irma (2017)
🟥 Anticipated impacts include significant wind, river flooding, flooding rainfall, and dangerous marine conditions
🟥 If you flooded during Irma, anticipate similar conditions
🟥 Sandbags will be made available. Nassau County, FL is finalizing the details for that right now. Location and hours will be announced Monday morning
🟥 The opening of a shelter is likely. The timing of the opening is in the process of being determined
🟥 We are working closely with the Nassau County School District. They will announce any closures if necessary
