Lee’s Garden I am a woman owned business. Lee’s Garden is in honor of my son, Lee Thomas Gallup (5/25/78-9/5/13) who worked as a landscaper.

We both shared a love of plants and planted gardens. We sell perennials, ground covers, grasses, herbs, bushes, and trees.

Today is an update for all the people who support Lee's Garden. My husband, Norman, passed on August 26, 2026 following a major stroke with complications on April 14, 2025.
I will continue to run Lee's Garden, which was begun as a memorial to our son, Lee, who passed September 5, 2013.
I hope to see you visit Lee's Garden soon.

This plant is a favorite of Lee's Garden!

Leatherleaf Mahonia (Berberis bealei, formerly Mahonia bealei) is a striking, bold broadleaf evergreen shrub known for its horizontal layers of stiff, leathery, spiny-toothed foliage that strongly resembles holly.
Native to mainland China, it has been heavily planted across the southeastern United States for its high architectural value and seasonal color. .

Typically reaches 6 to 10 feet tall and 4 to 5 feet wide with an upright, multi-stemmed habit
Prefers partial shade to full shade. Full afternoon sun can bleach or burn the foliage.
Thrives in moist, organic-rich, acidic, well-draining soil. Extremely drought-tolerant once fully established.
Features highly fragrant, lemony, terminal clusters of yellow flowers in late winter (January to March). These transition to heavily ornamental, waxy, powder-blue to black berry clusters by late spring.

If anyone has school aged children who need to fulfill volunteer hours, I really could use some help with watering, moving plants, etc. As most of you know, a year and a half ago, my life changed when my husband had a stroke while home alone and now resides in a long term care facility. I'm struggling with the new normal and added commitments and just can't get caught up. It is very difficult for me to reach out and ask for help, Please reach out if interested in helping us out. This is a beautiful plant.

Indulgence® Raspberry Gelato Crape Myrtle is a medium-sized deciduous shrub, growing rapidly to between 8 and 10 feet tall, and about 6 feet wide. It is densely covered in small glossy leaves that emerge in spring a fabulous deep purple-red, and hold their rich color for the rest of the season – no fading or browning. The 8-inch tall flower heads have up to 200 blooms in them, of a delicious raspberry-pink color. A really dynamic color effect is guaranteed. After dead-heading it will rebloom after a few weeks, meaning blossoms from June to September. Grow it for bright color anywhere in your garden, especially in dry areas and poor soil.

It is an ultra-compact, dwarf flowering shrub reaching just 3 to 4 feet tall and wide. It produces saturated, grape-purple blooms from midsummer through fall, featuring a tidy, mounded growth habit that requires no pruning. It is a deciduous plant. It sheds its leaves in the autumn after showing fall color, remains dormant through the winter, and grows fresh new green foliage in the spring.

Star Flower Scorpio Illicium Anise derives evergreen shrub is an NCSU introduction from Tom Ranney, bred at the Mountain Crop Improvement Lab. It is a hybrid between the species I. floridanum and I. mexicanum which are now classified under the former's name. The large, bright red flowers bloom multiple times throughout the year and the shrub is compact in shape and size. It does best in partial shade and moist soil, tolerating shady, damp, and wet sites well. botanical name from the Latin word meaning "alluring," reflecting its ornamental appeal and aromatic qualities. Ruffled Red Magic™ Crape Myrtle is gorgeous with its powerful red-orange blooms. Their vibrant coloring is emphasized by the way the carnation-like flowers hide the yellow stamens. The rich green foliage is a perfect background, and in fall the leaves turn wonderful shades of orange, yellow and red. Grow this medium-sized shrub as a stunning lawn specimen or at the back of a bed. Plant it as a screen or against a fence or wall. You can even grow it in a large tub for color anywhere.

I’m reaching out again asking for volunteer help. If you know me personally, I absolutely hate asking for help but here I am.

As many of you know, a year ago last April my husband Norm, suffered a severe stroke and seizure and after almost a month at Duke, went to a skilled nursing facility for rehab and now resides in long term care while struggling with his health, loss of cognitive ability and is currently in hospice.
With that being said, I’m struggling with everything that needs to be done to run a business, this horrid heat, get caught up in the nursery, watering, along with visits to see him and general chores.
