Sometimes the biggest gap at work isn't the language. It's the silence.

Have you ever thought someone agreed with you, only to realize later they didn't? Or heard "it's a bit difficult" without realizing it actually meant "no"?
Last month, our team at Vietlink held an internal seminar on Japanese & Vietnamese communication at work, exploring the small cultural differences that often create the biggest misunderstandings.

A few moments stood out:
🤔 "It's a bit difficult…" can be a polite way of saying no.
👍 "Dạ, OK" may simply mean "I'm listening," not "I agree."
🤫 Silence can mean respect, careful thinking, or concern, not necessarily disagreement.

None of these are right or wrong. Vietnamese teams often value speed and flexibility, while Japanese teams emphasize precision and consensus. These differences can complement each other when we understand the meaning behind them.
At Vietlink, we believe cross-cultural communication isn't just about speaking the same language, it's about understanding each other's intentions before making assumptions.

Hosted by our Senior Front-end Engineer, this fun session explored simple Feng Shui principles that can help create a more comfortable and productive workspace.

Together with our colleagues at KAG, we hosted a cross-border knowledge-sharing session where everyone presented "My Favorite X" - from technologies and hobbies to books, productivity tips, and ideas that inspire them. It was a great opportunity to learn more about each other beyond our daily work.

🔹 How Software Grows Up
Hosted by our Technical Architect, this session looked beyond coding to explore how software evolves, from an initial idea to a mature, maintainable product—and the engineering decisions that shape that journey.
