I just finished some exciting new work, and I’m thrilled to share it with you! This includes a procedural wood house generator HDA (available for purchase), which is designed to be destruction-ready. When I first tried creating destruction scenes, I struggled to find proper geometry that was ready for destruction. That’s where this HDA comes in handy.
The water element has always been my favorite, so I loved adding it to the scene to give it a more realistic feel. My approach came to life after watching the Siggraph 2017 presentation by Walt Disney Animation Studios about the ocean creature from Moana.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it!
Just completed some exciting new work on water effects animation and destruction effects in Houdini. This includes a procedural wood house generator HDA (available for purchase), which is designed to be destruction-ready. When I first tried creating destruction scenes, I struggled to find proper geometry that was ready for destruction. That’s where this HDA comes in handy.
(This post is not intended to sell the HDA. If you're interested in purchasing the HDA, please check the video description for more details. Link in Comment and end of this post.)
This is the first HDA that applies fixes for common modeling issues, as presented by Oliver Markowski (Rise FX) at Siggraph 2018. To complete these destruction shots, we need more concrete structures and reinforced buildings. Excited to say that the next HDA is already cooking!
The water element has always been my favorite, so I loved adding it to the scene along with the destruction effects, giving it a more realistic and dynamic feel. My inspiration sparked after watching the Siggraph 2017 presentation by Walt Disney Animation Studios. They showcased the Fluxed animated boundary method used to create the ocean creature in the Moana movie. It was amazing to see their research in action, and I couldn't wait to try it myself!
