In 1996, I started working at a telecom workshop. In 2024, I'm preparing to travel the world with just a laptop and a camera. The 30 years in between — that's a journey no one teaches you.
My name is Hung, also known as Hung Oliver King — Hung OK. And this is the first post of my 30-day series where I will share the unfiltered truth — no filters, no million-dollar courses, no broker fees, no affiliate links. Just a 50+ year-old man recounting what he has been through.
🔧 I started at a telecom workshop. Learned how to solder circuits. Learned how to install switchboards. Learned to work so carefully that 1 small mistake = a whole district losing connection.
📱 Then I opened my own mobile phone repair shop. Back then, mobile phones were a luxury. But I already knew what they looked like on the inside. At the same time, I was a Level 3 and Level 4 technician at Nokia Care — meaning the most severely damaged phones, the ones no one else could fix, came to me.
💻 In 2010, I pivoted to IT and Digital Marketing for the Hospitality industry. 14 years. From booking systems, to how to photograph a plate of rice so people feel hungry just looking at it.
🌍 And now? Now I'm building a remote work ecosystem — to travel, connect, and make a living simultaneously. Not because I'm rich. But because I finally realized: skills — are the only passport that never expires.
Over the next 30 days, I will share about:
• How to travel abroad without spending money (legal, real, not a scam)
• Essential skills for the AI and Digital age
• The journey I'm on — the real one, including the struggles
If you're tired of your current job — Or want to travel but don't know where to start — Or simply want to see if a 50-year-old doing this is for real: Then I'm here. Let's go together.
