IMPROVING RURAL ACCESS: CLIMATE RESILIENT ROAD FOR TONGOA

For the people of Kurumambe, this means safer and more reliable access to their airport, ensuring they can travel for medical care, education, and other essential needs. It also makes it easier for food supplies and farming produce to move between Tongoa and other Vanuatu islands. Farmers will also benefit with a more dependable transport route that supports local livelihoods and improves food security.

Local Tongoa company Mataru Building Construction were awarded the contract. this project also strengthens the skills and capacity of local contractors while supporting PWD in building more climate-resilient roads.

Funded by the Australian Government, this initiative aligns with the Public Roads Strategy and reflects the commitment of the Vanuatu-Australia Partnership to improving rural infrastructure.
