I don’t leave the grid much but when I do it’s not for just any reason. When I started providing marketing services 6 years ago I was fresh after my daughter’s arrival on earth, and I couldn’t think of anything worse than going back to an office on someone else’s schedule with a bub in the daycare system 5 days a week.

My heart broke, so I made this a full time. Now I can galavante to Dark M**o for the weekend and still carry my infrastructure with me. In between art galleries, the festival and our nature stay I can comfortably still provide what is needed from me back in Melbourne.

Meta has such a monopoly on digital social interactions that they can get away with invisible rules that will wipe tens of thousands of accounts per day. This doesn’t allow most people a chance to fix an innocent mistake until it’s too late.

Most of the time, a social media manager can help deter this from happening before it reaches the unfortunate end point. Many safeguards can be put into place, and secret rules adhered to before catastrophe.

Feeding my internal artist keeps my business alive. Creating beautiful concepts for myself helps me visualise the same for those I work with.

Sometimes my internal artist gets neglected because business gets busy. Then I lose inspiration, and my own ideas grow cobwebs in the corner of my mind. This is a cycle I’m now consciously breaking.

Separating the artist from the entrepreneur has been an important step for my own sanity. Too often I would let my artist self get sucked within the projects I’m working on for others, not realising that my best contracted work comes when my own creations have been fulfilled.

Yesterday I stared at 3 Meta glitches across Instagram and Facebook for hours. I couldn’t upload videos to Ads Manager, and I couldn’t boost from Instagram desktop. It was strange and frustrating, but there was nothing I could do.

So I waited.

And I realised.. some people trying to do these things for the first time would have given up. These somewhat tiny backend errors simultaneously would be enough for them to walk away and forget about it.

My patience albeit thin, only remained because I know how things should normally operate. Most others have the luxury of not staring at Meta UI daily, so they might not understand this wasn’t their fault.

There was a time I would push straight past the point my body was asking me to stop. I didn’t know how to, I had so many people relying on me.

Burnout for me is like the start of a migraine, that aura already warning you it’s coming before it lands. I can now anticipate and tune in before I’m incapacitated.

Being able to catch it earlier, I can now clear half a day and recoup the energy before it destroys me. Testing and listening to my limits has become a vital skill that keeps everything flowing the way it needs to.

Because even in full burnout, I don’t have the option to stop.

People see the post, but they don’t see every minor tweak made before I hit publish.

The quality, the crop, the HDR-SDR conversion, the brightness/brilliance and contrast adjustment, the audio, the creative writing, the geotagging..

I could go on. It feels endless but every step is as important as the message. The number of UI glitches I almost unconsciously manoeuvre around is astounding.

People know that posting consistently is challenging, but they might not realise exactly what’s involved to get everything looking krispy.

Sometimes we’re thrown in the deep end of a responsibility or task that feels beyond our scope, at first. By digging deeper into the mental processes that it will require and familiarising ourselves with this newness gradually yet intensely, we will quickly come to realise that this direction is exactly where we need to be and what we were always destined for.

We all start from knowing nothing. Everything moment and action we fulfil is another layer of knowledge we can use for the next creative project that comes our way.

Krisp is 3 years old 🎈 Yesterday I sat with my assistant looking through a year’s worth of content I’ve captured for my clients to recap 365 days of events, creations and services in 20 seconds. The public representation of it all is done and it’s time to recognise our incredible achievements.

Reflecting on what it takes to keep up to date in this era, I’ve learnt soo much. It’s switched from a race of engagement to a presence. It’s proving that you’re still going, and it’s connecting with the people that actually support you, not just the eyeballs on your content.

The digital environment is always changing, and alongside it peoples behaviour here shifts. They follow where they feel the most safe and inspired. Perhaps a different platform, perhaps a total break for a hardcore reset.

When things move I just watch. I pay attention, and adapt. This is the reason Krisp has reached this milestone. Happy Birthday to the brand that has become its own entity, and to all the people who are here with me 🖤

For me what I do on the daily has become second nature. Imposter syndrome tends to creep in when the road bumps stop, and you don’t realise how much you have to offer until you have a casual conversation with someone starting out or struggling with it.

🧠 Consistent content ideas when the creative flow stops
📝 Caption writing that speaks true to your product, service and brand
