October is Small Business Month.
Recently, a past client (and still wonderful connection!) wrote these words to me:
“Something which always shines through from you, both in person and online through your business - your genuine love for local, and your passion for helping small businesses grow and thrive. It’s really special ♥️♥️♥️”
If I wasn’t living in a tiny remote community, I’m pretty sure I would have a shop filled with wares by all the small businesses I adore and know. People would come there because they know every piece they’d touch, I’d go “oh let me tell you about…” with so much enthusiasm, that thing would no longer be a necklace or mug or dishcloth to them. It would be the story of the people and place who made it. I’m sure a lot of people wouldn’t come into the store for fear that that’s the kind of service they would get 😂
I love my people. The small business owners, what they are crafting and creating and dreaming. I’ll move mountains to support those who I care about.
And I hope I’m inspiring you to do the same! Here’s how I’m committing to supporting small businesses in October, maybe you can do some of these too:
💚 showing up at their events
💚 spending money at small, independent businesses
💚 telling the world about them, even if I wasn’t able to buy: sharing in my stories, sending texts, tagging in comments
💚 writing an honest Google review (I’m going to try and commit to sitting down and writing 5 a week this month!)
💚 sending them a personal message, so they remember how awesome they are
I’m going to spread some love with tags of businesses that I love to support and others I’m really hoping to support soon. I’d love if you did the same so we can all check each other out and build the bonds in our small biz communities 🤍🤍
