One of the best things about being an island is the beaches. Here you can take a break from your electronics and just enjoy the moment.
Singing Sands Beach (also known as Basin Heads) is located in Souris, P.E.I. The reason it is called “Singing Sands” is because of the squeaking noise (or “singing” noise😉) that happens when you make contact with the sand which, btw, contains high levels of silicon. and quartz. The beach has warm water and guests can go skimboarding, and diving, from the wharf and it’s bridge. There are also an ice cream stand, a gift shop, a play area, a museum, and picnic tables present.
Cavendish Beach is known for its iconic red cliffs, white sands, and its connection to renowned novel, Anne of Green Gables and its author, L.M. Montgomery. This beach contains many activities such as cycling, hiking, geocaching, ball games, paddling, and surfing, and located near a campground.
Brackley Beach is the only beach on P.E.I. that has a drive-in movie theatre. Located in Charlottetown, It has white sands, sand dunes, barrier islands, sandstone cliffs and, a forest and wetlands. Visitors can canoe, kayak, paddleboard, horseback riding, boating, hiking, and biking. The beach is conveniently located near a mini-golf course, gallery, ice creams shops, cafes, and a campground.
Jacques Cartier Beach is named after the famous French explorer. This is the historic landing site of Jacques Cartier when he discovered Canada back in 1534! He stated that Prince Edward Island was “the fairest land it’s possible to see.” Every year, people gather at the beach to celebrate Rediscovery Day. The beach is popular place for swimming and has a campground with a convenient store, a playground, and a place for picnics. Visitors can enjoy a game of volleyball and horseshoes on the beach.
