SA Harvest Chefs with Compassion

In 2020, the essence of Mandela Day – take action, inspire change, and make every day a Mandela Day – is more important than ever before.

Chefs with Compassion and SA Harvest are rising to that challenge through the collective action of hundreds of chefs to cook of soup for the most vulnerable communities around the country.

In 10 cities - Johannesburg, Cape Town, Pretoria, Durban, Bloemfontein, Mokopane, Rustenburg, Vereeniging, PE and Nelspruit - a hearty, nutritious soup will be cooked with compassion and care by chefs from restaurants, hotels, cooking schools and catering operations to raise awareness and funds for Chefs with Compassion to continue its work of providing meals for the growing number of hungry people in the months to come.

This was a special day spent visiting two inspirational women who go to work every day and still come home to cook meals for their community, using their own money to cover the cost of their petrol and the spices to make their meals delicious. To think the ingredients that went into these meals were rescued and would otherwise have gone to waste. We are so proud to be part of the Chefs with Compassion story.
