We want to send a huge congratulations to the team behind The Singers on taking home the Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film at the Academy Awards on Sunday.

The film screened at the WYO Film Festival—an event we’re proud to help produce—this past October, where it also earned the Audience Choice Award for Best Short Film.

We love seeing an intimate, community-driven festival like WYOFF continue to attract and champion standout films from around the world—and watching those stories go on to succeed on the biggest stage.

We’ve been hard at work shaping the identity for this year’s 8th annual WYO Film Festival—from the overall branding and advertising to on-site graphics that bring the experience to life.

This year’s theme, “Stories That Move Mountains,” draws inspiration from the Native American story of Devil’s Tower. The festival artwork weaves imagery from this legend into a bold, distinctive design that sets the tone for the weekend.

We’ll have what they’re having. 👀 A peek at a recent cocktail-fueled photo shoot with our friends at Elite Brands because...Friday! 🤫 These cocktails were too good not to share:

🍒 Recipe #1:
• .75 oz Espinheira Ginja Cherry Liqueur
• .75 oz Paranubes Rum
• .75 oz Bear Creek Distillery Silver Rum
• .75 oz Lime Juice
• .5 oz Demerara Simple Syrup
Shake, double strain, and garnish with a cherry.

🥃 Recipe #2:
• 1 oz Peach Street Distillers Colorado Straight Rye
• 1 oz Drink Xila Mexican Aperitif (The Craft Spirits Cooperative)
• .5 oz Pajarote Cordova DIX
Stir over ice, strain into a glass with a big cube, and finish with a lemon twist.

🌍 Happy Earth Day!

At Outside Voice, we’re proud to partner with innovators across the beverage and ag industries—people who are deeply committed to sustainability and stewardship.

In a recent conversation for work on an upcoming editorial piece, Garrett Oliver, brewmaster at The Brooklyn Brewery shared the story of Fonio Rising Pale Ale with us. It’s brewed with fonio, an ancient West African grain that thrives in near-desert conditions without the need for irrigation, fertilizers, or pesticides.

“Fonio grows so well in water-starved scrublands that there’s essentially endless land available for its further cultivation,” Garrett shared. “As we experience climate change, this extreme versatility will become increasingly important.”

The environmental impact is only part of the story. The fonio Brooklyn Brewery purchases supports smallholder farming communities in Mali and Senegal—many of them women-led—helping to strengthen and sustain rural agricultural communities.
