Craving authentic Malay cuisine? ✨ I recently had the pleasure of indulging in a delicious Ramadan buffet at LADO, a haven for Negeri Sembilan’s culinary delights! 🇲🇾

As someone surrounded by Chinese cuisine in my daily life, this was a truly special experience. The spread was a vibrant tapestry of flavors, featuring rendang, masak lemak, curries, an array of kuih muih (Malay traditional cakes), and more! Every bite was a journey, leaving me wishing for an expandable stomach! 🙈🙈

While the team and I always enjoy sharing our collective experiences, this one was deeply personal and a reminder of the beauty of exploring different cultural cuisines 🫶🏻

Contour @ PJ Old Town

The first thing that caught our eye was the giant croissant floating in the air 🥐☁️

The ambiance of this cafe is great! It has great natural light, a great display of pastries, and a great bar setup. All of the above makes it a great cafe for a quick takeout.

We personally don’t think it’s a cafe where we can sit and sip our coffee slowly, as the seating space is very limited and the pathway gets a little crowded with cafe goers queuing to order or waiting for seats.

We were only there for a cup of coffee, but we would love to come back and try their signature pastries and cakes!

Fukuniku @ Bangsar South

Life surprises you when you don’t set expectation and that’s exactly what Fukuniku did to us.

Greeted by a staff with a welcoming energy, he went through the menu with us thoroughly and even asked how are we feeling on that day so that he can recommend flavours that ‘suits’ our feeling 🤩
Here’s what we ordered:

🍚Niku Ochazuke
🍚Citrus Donburi
🍚Cheese Donburi
🍚Wasabi Donburi

We must say, we were genuinely surprised by the hambagu!! 😍It’s thicc, juicy and tender; a match made in heaven pairing with rice 🤤 The flavourings (citrus, cheese, wasabi) however did not contribute much of a wow factor sadly.

The hero dish of this meal is definitely Niku Ochazuke, we think it beats the rest of the donburi. The broth is flavourful, comforting and refillable! 🥰😱

Satuu Coffee & Pastries @ Setapak

This cafe has been on our list for far too long and we finally got to tick this one off today! ✅✅

Located in a quiet neighbourhood of Setapak, Satuu converted a corner lot terrace house to a cafe - serving coffee, cakes and pastries. ☕️🍰🥐

We spent a good amount of time touring around the cafe as each corner is unique with owner’s collection of Japanese cups, vintage items and coffee equipment. The whole vibes of this place is simply cozy and homey, making it perfect to read and work here. 💻📚

We only ordered their coffee and it was good! Will definitely be back someday to try the desserts and seasonal items 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

We recommend you to follow their IG closely for operation hour update, or you could drop them a dm before you head out.

Salon Du Pain is an artisan bread festival and this is the third time that Isetan host this.

15 brands who are top rated in artisanal pastries popping up at Isetan lot10, The Japan Store, from 26th July - 6th August for a 12 days event!

Probably the best place for pastries lover to get indulge with pastries 🤩

Kim Yong Gee Beef Noodle @ Damansara Perdana

We were so hyped to try Kim Yong Gee Beef Noodle after stumbling upon a foodie page that speaks highly about their noodle (can’t help it, noodle addict here 🤭)

We ordered from the set lunch menu which comes with a drink and price was affordable too!

We ordered: 1. Mix Beef Noodle
2.Short Rib & Beef Noodle
3. Beef Meatballs Noodle

Here goes our verdict:
1. Soup was decent but not as flavourful as we thought it’d be.
2. Although we did not order the premium cut, the quality of the beef was good.
3. Noodles was cooked to al dente! But we could use a lil heads up on the extra charge for ordering wanton noodles  (+RM1 for wanton noodles)

Overall, it was a good experience and will definitely come back one day to try the premium cuts!

The best place with best food tends to be hot, sweaty and less aesthetic, amirite!? 🤤

From fish head noodle to famous robert’s char kuey teow, Golden Kim Wah coffee shop has it all!

What we ordered:
- fish head noodle
- pork noodle
- wantan noodle
- fried kuey teow
- prawn noodle
- Sarawak kolo mee
- chewy fishball
- toast & soft boiled eggs

Little Eat Shop @ Atria Shopping Gallery, Damansara Jaya

Little Eat Shop is located near our office and we’ve driven by this place sooooo many times as it is situated strategically at the corner of the mall, which is visible inside and outside of the mall.

Judging from the menu, it looks like they specialised in Chicken Rice. We tried a few things on the menu:

- Half Chicken
- Lam Mee
- Chicken Porridge
- Ngo Hiong

Our verdict: it’s ok, edible as non of the dishes sparked joy, nothing too special about it. It’s standard mall price, nothing to complain about it.

All in all, if we have to eat our lunch at 4pm then maybe we will come here again 🫢
