Malaysia Pavilion Concept, Osaka World Expo 2025
We asked ourselves, what makes a 3D visual feels like a distant memory?
To make the pavilion believable, we focused on capturing POV moments that felt observed rather than staged.
Designed by Formzero, the Malaysia Pavilion was envisioned as a Vessel of Diversity, carrying Malaysia’s nature, culture and future to Japan.
Water, tropical landscape and a woven batik-inspired façade subtly expressed a Malaysian identity.
Using cultural contrast and tangible objects as storytelling strategy, we curated a set of 3D visuals featuring:
1. An Iban dancer performing in front of curious Japanese visitors in kimono
2. A group of kindergarteners excitedly discovering a mysterious tropical pavilion.
3. Real objects like a thank you postcard for visitor and an architecture model.
4. An imagined construction progress in a winterly Osaka in February, rushing for April's launch.
The captured moments bridge between concept design and believability. Fog, water, movement and human presence were used to soften the “3D rendered” feeling, making the visuals feel real.
