Leica is probably the most over-discussed camera brand in photography 📸

Every time Leica comes up, the comments look the same 👀
 “Overrated.” “Too expensive.” “You’re paying for a red dot 🔴”
And honestly… I get it 🤷‍♂️

Leica cameras are not for everyone. They’re expensive 💸, they don’t chase specs 📊, and they definitely don’t try to compete with brands that update models every year.

On paper, many cameras offer more for less money.

So why do photographers still choose Leica?

For some, it’s the simplicity 🧠
 For others, it’s the shooting experience ✨
 For some, it’s the lenses, the rendering, the way the files feel rather than what the spec sheet says 🖼️

But here’s the real question people avoid asking 🤔 Does “overrated” mean bad… or does it just mean not for you?

Most photographers don’t wake up one day and randomly buy a Leica. Usually, it comes after years of shooting other systems, learning what they like, what they hate, and what actually matters to them when they pick up a camera ⏳

And plenty of great photographers will never touch a Leica, and that’s perfectly fine too 👍

Week one in the studio, wrapped up.

5 shoots across 5 days and around 40 reels filmed, now moving into delivery. A full week of planning, ex*****on, and keeping everything moving smoothly across projects.

A trip to Heidelberg after a very busy couple of weeks. Christmas came around, then I turned 32, New Year and everything else that comes with all of that.

Back in the studio tomorrow and ready to kick off 2026, I have client shoots booked in all week, ready to create and help them exceed their marketing goals.

I hope everyone had a great holiday season, thanks to everyone that messaged in and thanks for listening to my TED talk.

3 things I always watch for when shooting backlit subjects:

1. How the light hits your subject
2. Where shadows fall
3. How you frame the shot

Was supposed to be at a gig tonight, but it got cancelled. So I’m back going through old files and doing my weekly backup. Found this one from the summer, loved the way the light fell at the end of the tunnel.

Hope everyone has a good start to the week and a smooth one ahead.

Don’t delete your archives.
No seriously, don’t...

Every once in a while I dig through old folders just to see what’s hiding in there, and it’s wild how much you can learn about your own growth.

I found this session I shot with and from what has to be at least five years ago, and looking at it now with fresh eyes… it hits completely differently.

Going back to old footage is a reminder of how far you’ve come, even when you don’t feel it day to day. Your archives are basically a timeline of your improvement.

So no, don’t delete them. Revisit them. Re-edit them. Learn from them.

You might be surprised by what you find.

Three hours stuck in the Gotthard Tunnel could have ruined our drive home this summer…

Instead, we took the pass, grabbed a coffee, let the kids stretch, and ended up with some of my favorite shots from the trip.

The Alps have a way of reminding you why you always carry a camera. You never know when a detour will turn into a moment worth capturing.
