Slightly different meeting for us this month in that we had an impromptu business mastermind session.

One of our members asked if he could pull from the collective business experience of the members to help him overcome some obstacles he has hit within his business. We love these sessions as they really encapsulate what the club is all about.

We started with the member giving us a brief overview of the issues he is currently facing. We then split the session into two parts:

Part 1 – We opened up the floor for questions from the other members on anything relevant to the business or issue which included; what are your goals? What are you looking to achieve immediately? What do you currently do? etc

Part 2 – Based on the answers to these questions members then suggested ways or gave tips to overcome the problems based on their own experience of running a business / businesses.

Our group is made up of a variety of business owners; some who have relatively new businesses to some who have run multi national firms or been in business for over fifty years; we have business owners who are 25 years old and some who are 70 years old with years of experience behind us, so the kind of advice and expertise gained from one of these sessions is vast.

Here are a few conversational snippets from the meeting:
‘What is your end game?’
‘How is your business structured now?’
‘It won’t run without me.’
‘Try pre-booking jobs in during quiet periods – offer a discount if it helps.’
‘Are you “the boss”?’
‘I have a fear of it not working.’
‘Try reading this book…’

Our member left the meeting with two pages of notes and we look forward to hearing the feedback on what helped.

As a group our aim is simple – local businesses helping local business. This session definitely showcased this in action.

It’s our members that shape our club:

That warm welcome when you arrive at your first meeting; that’s our members.
The buzz in the air during the welcome coffee networking; that’s our members.
The amazing collaborations that result from one to one meetings; that’s our members.
The helpful advice on aspects of your business you’re struggling with; that’s our members.

We organise the venues and meetings but we never take for granted that it’s the people who show up week on week that truly make the club the success it is.

We have an open meeting this week so if you’d like to come and meet everyone you can either buy a ticket via our Eventbrite or give us a call to find out more about us on 01480 393393.

Meet Nick Jones, Owner of Dream Clean, the most professional and reliable cleaning service in the East of England and equipped to deal with every possible cleaning situation.

Their customers include tenants, homeowners and housing associations, commercial agents, retail premises, industrial buildings, garages, letting agents, building construction companies and the armed forces.

What makes them special is that their managers check their contract cleans at least once a week and one-off cleans at the finish. Meanwhile, if your needs change during the clean, or you want to add new services, you only have to call and they will listen to your new requirements and ensure you get exactly the result you need, want and deserve.

They are proud to have a history of repeat orders from valued customers because of the quality of their cleaning and dedication to customer service, so use them once and they are certain they will become the ‘go to company’ for all your cleaning services.

If you’d like to hear more from Nick about how he turned a one man band into East Anglia’s leading cleaning company, tune into episode two of our podcast by following the link:

Here’s a snapshot of our meeting yesterday.

It was great to welcome guests along with our current members and see everyone getting to know each other over arrival coffees.

We were also treated to an upbeat talk from Ouse Valley Radio about their station and how they support local businesses and the wider community.

Our next face to face meeting will be at The Commute Cafe on Thursday 21st May.
