Howard Seidman Communications has added a new Facebook feed known as "Health & Caregiving Info for Seniors & Their Families.

I have been doing social networking for home health care clients for the better part of 10 years, and have administered feeds on Facebook, Twitter/X, and LinkedIn. (Instagram feeds will be added shortly.) The reason "Health & Caregiving Info" has been started is to demonstrate the social networking and communications skills that can be brought to clients in any number of industries, in this case other home health care companies, elder law attorneys, physician groups, and any organization that serves older adults or the families that keep an eye on them.

The hope is that you'll enjoy this feed for the variety of health care and caregiving information that reaches across generations, and will feel "just a little bit smarter and informed" about what you read. So, please check back frequently and give the page a like to make it part of your Facebook feed. The pandemic brought on challenges for so many. But for chaplains working at assisted living, rehab, and senior living centers, the sense of fear of helplessness felt by residents and their families hit extremely hard.

In this piece I wrote for Next Avenue, chaplains of three faiths discuss the adjustments they've had to make due to the specter of COVID-19. Each embraced a combinations of ingenuity and compassion, often without the assistance of modern technology.

My latest article for the PBS website Next Avenue has been published. The piece examines whether your aging parents are lying, and whether that lying might actually be warranted.

I had the opportunity to speak with Marc E. Agronin, MD, a geriatric psychologist who has published several books on aging, as well as Dr. Andrew Lazris, a geriatrician practicing in Maryland. Both helped clarify that at the heart of this matter is a difference in communication styles.
