Big Bend National Park has held a piece of my heart for decades.
Every visit fills my sketchbooks with quick drawings, notes, little details from the desert — canyon walls, agave silhouettes, cactus blooms, wildlife sightings, the Rio Grande winding through the landscape.

Those field sketches are where my patterns begin. From there, I refine the drawings, build the repeating design, choose a palette inspired by the desert itself, and finally turn the artwork into textiles for the home.

These new flour sack kitchen towels are one of the finished pieces from that creative journey. Featuring Santa Elena Canyon, Casa Grande, the hot springs, desert flora and fauna, and all the little pieces of Big Bend that stay with you long after you leave.

Printed in a deep espresso-pomegranate and warm golden palette, they’re now available in my Shopify shop (and Etsy, too)

I think these are great for fellow desert lovers, Texas travelers, and anyone who knows the magic of Far West Texas.

For my Thistle Toile design (a Romantic Scottish Botanical) I illustrated thistles & ribbons in a flowing classic pattern – aiming for a soft, romantic design that echoes Highland charm. (This design is also available in wallpaper, fabric and home décor on Spoonflower.)

My latest forest design is now available on Spoonflower! Wallpaper, curtains, duvets, pillows, and more.

If you know me, you know that birch and aspen trees have inspired my artwork for decades. During the years my family lived in Alaska, we had beautiful birch trees right in our yard. Later, on visits to the Grand Canyon, I fell in love with the shimmering groves of aspens. Both trees left a lasting impression on me.

This large-scale pattern brings life-sized tree trunks indoors, creating a modern yet organic atmosphere. The spaces between the trunks are filled with cascading leaves, adding softness and movement. The design is intentionally subtle enough to evoke either birch or aspen, allowing it to capture the spirit of both landscapes.

It’s a fresh interpretation of stripes—rooted in nature and perfect for fabric, wallpaper, and home décor.

This is one of my favorite color combinations–pink and ocher. I have only six of these tea towels left. They are in my Sassenach Collection on Etsy. It is inspired by the Outlander story with a Bridgerton color palette. (Am I watching too much television? Yes, yes I am.🥰) The tea towels are 15" x 20", 100% cotton, with free shipping in the US.

Some of you know that I’ve worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for many (many, many) years, but recently I’ve been having a lot of fun exploring pattern design for fabric.

One of the designs I created is a "Sassenach Toile", inspired by the Outlander series and illustrated in the style of traditional French toile de jouy fabrics. Instead of pastoral French scenes, you'll find Craig Na Dun, Lallybroch, two wedding bands, and more.

I’m excited to share that this design is now on large kitchen towels which are available in my new Etsy shop–with more products coming soon.

They’re 100% flour sack cotton, 27x 27 inches, and have a hanging loop on the back. Perfect for everyday use — or for the Outlander fan in your life.

✨ Exciting news! I’ll be at Fraser’s Ridge Homecoming this October in the beautiful North Carolina mountains. This special Outlander-inspired gathering is the perfect place to share my Sassenach Toile Collection—a fabric line I hand-illustrated, inspired by Claire’s time in France and filled with vignettes of Lallybroch, Craigh na Dun, and more.

Each piece is either sewn by me or produced in small artisan batches using my fabric—think pillows, boxy bags, ornaments, lavender eye pillows, aprons, and more. It’s a modern and subtle nod to the story we all love, created for fans who like to carry a touch of the Highlands home.

As a surface designer (and a proud descendant of the Scottish McKenzie line!), it’s especially meaningful to bring this collection to an event that celebrates both history and story. Here's a sneak peek. Will I see you there? 🥰
