Menstrual products are something many people never have to think twice about buying, but for others, they’re simply out of reach.

This May, United Way of Colchester & Cumberland Counties is launching Menstrual May, a collection drive helping address period poverty across Colchester and Cumberland Counties.

Hundreds of women, girls, transgender, and non-binary individuals in our communities struggle to access menstrual products because of cost, location, or other barriers. Something as simple as not having access to pads or tampons can impact school, work, confidence, and daily life.

From May 6–31, unopened menstrual products can be dropped off at the following locations:

📍 Colchester County
• Truro Library
• Tatamagouche Library
• Stewiacke Library

📍 Cumberland County
• YMCA of Cumberland
• Dr Carson and Marion Murray Community Centre

All donations will go directly to local agencies and organizations supporting individuals who menstruate throughout our region.

Whether it’s one box or a workplace collection drive, every contribution helps. 🩷

We want to celebrate the moms, grandmothers, stepmoms, aunties, chosen family, and mother figures who’ve helped shape our lives in big ways and small ones.

For more than two decades, Lorie has been helping people experience the world and create lasting memories through travel. In 2018, she opened Memory Bank Travel, building a business rooted in relationships, trust, and a genuine love for helping people explore.

The years that followed brought major challenges to the travel industry, but Lorie never lost sight of why she started. Her passion for travel, her clients, and serving the local community kept her moving forward, and today, Memory Bank Travel continues to grow with a dedicated team and a brand new storefront at 72 Walker Street.

We’re back with another Café highlight for the series ☕

This time I stopped into in downtown Truro, bringing a little taste of Italy to Central Nova Scotia. Tucked along Prince Street, it’s the kind of spot that feels perfect for a slower lunch, espresso break, or pastry and coffee while exploring downtown.

More than just a café, Caffè Italia is also a restaurant, deli, and gathering place inspired by the flavours of Italy and the Mediterranean. Known for their espresso, fresh pasta dishes, pastries, and cozy atmosphere, it’s quickly becoming a favourite stop for both locals and visitors.

They’re offering a special Mother’s Day menu this weekend featuring Italian classics like lasagne alla bolognese, cannelloni, tiramisu, and even a fill your own cannoli kit ❤️💐

Looking for something fun to do and a way to support a great cause?

A Board Game Café Fundraiser is happening on Wednesday, May 20 from 5-9pm at the Truro Fire Hall

For $15, you’ll have access to over 50 board games, plus there will be door prizes, a 50/50 draw, and a canteen available throughout the evening.

All proceeds go toward the annual Q***r Youth Prom, helping create a safe, inclusive, and memorable experience for local youth.

They’re also still accepting board game donations or loans if you’d like to contribute in another way.

Cash, credit, and e transfer are all accepted.
