The Valencia crop will be a minimum of 20% down on original estimates this season. The first Valencia variety, Turkey Valencia, has started with Northern Growers. The drop in the Brazilian Orange crop for processing resulted in export prices competing with juice prices on South African oranges.

Citrus exports from South Africa will end earlier this year. Valencia specifically is 6 million cartons below the original estimate. The Eastern Cape will end one month earlier. In the Western Cape abundant rain caused acids to drop quickly as well.
