*A WARNING TO SOUTH AFRICA: Learn from history. Stay vigilant.*
How America’s playbook of disinformation and coups threatens democracies.
From Hawaii in 1893 (where the U.S. overthrew Queen Liliʻuokalani to control sugarcane and install a puppet government) to Iraq, Libya, and Yemen (invaded under lies of “weapons of mass destruction” or “regime change”), the U.S. has a long history of destabilizing nations through propaganda, coups, and military force.
In my video, I connect the dots:
1. Operation Northwoods (1962): Declassified plans reveal how the U.S. government proposed staging fake attacks to justify invading Cuba. JFK rejected it, but the playbook remains.
2. Obama’s warning: In a speech, he stressed how democracies must guard against disinformation.
3. Netanyahu in 2002: Pushed lies about WMDs in Syria, Iraq, and Libya—claims later debunked but used to justify wars.
4. Trump at CNN’s Town Hall: Admitted Bush’s Iraq invasion was based on zero evidence of WMDs.
Why does this matter for SOUTH AFRICA?
- The U.S. and Israel are targeting SA for challenging Western dominance via BRICS (threatening the dollar) and SA’s case against Israel at the ICC for genocide in Gaza.
- AfriForum’s false “white genocide” narrative is being weaponized by Trump (who granted Afrikaners “refugee status”) to justify interference.
- Libya’s fate (destroyed by NATO in 2011) shows how quickly lies can erase a nation.
WHAT CAN WE DO?
1. Question EVERYTHING: Who benefits from the story? Verify sources.
2. Unite: Division is their weapon. Stand together as a rainbow nation.
3. Amplify TRUTH: Share factual, local news. Silence = Complicity.
Prompt Questions for Discussion:
- How do we spot foreign propaganda targeting SA?
- What steps can we take to protect our media from disinformation?
- Why is unity our greatest defense against external interference?
Stay alert. Stay informed. Our democracy depends on it. 🌍
