German International School Cape Town goes 100% renewable energy - On a sunny day, the school draws 100% of their energy requirements from the sun - Watch interviews with Principal Alex Kirmse and Gregor Kuepper, Managing Director of SolarWorld Africa who supplied the solar system. The school will save 175 tons of CO2 per year and the solar plant will break even after 7 years, in other words the school makes back their investment in 7 years. Saving 175 tons of carbon dioxide every year, the German International School Cape Town Deutsche Internationale Schule Kapstadt - DSK will be drawing all of its electricity from the sun on a sunny day. Three German companies are involved in providing the 150 kWp solar system: SolarWorld manufactured the solar panels, SMA the solar inverters and Schletter supplied the mounting system and installed the solar system to the school's roof.
