KHAYA CCAP CHURCH IN MULANJE INDUCTS 8 MEN INTO MEN'S MINISTRY

Khaya CCAP Church in Mulanje has urged its men to remain committed to serving God and to promote love, unity and tolerance amongst themselves.

This was said by the church's Reverend, Morris Julius Sabuni, during a ceremony where eight men who have completed their training were inducted into the Men's Ministry.

Rev. Sabuni, who is also the Moderator for Chonde CCAP Parish in Thuchira Presbytery, said he is happy that the fourth group of the Men's Ministry has been inducted, which is a sign that the ministry is growing and that God's work will be done diligently.

In his remarks, one of the inducted men, Patrick Kalulu, said he is very happy to join the ministry and pledged to work wholeheartedly to advance the word of God and the development of the church.

In his remarks, the Chairperson of the Men's Ministry at Khaya CCAP, Thokozani Namoyo, encouraged other men who have not yet joined the ministry to prepare to enroll in the fifth intake, which will commence soon.

Police in Chitipa have arrested a 42-year-old man, Isaac Chipofya, in connection with the death of 35-year-old Lameck Sibale who was killed by an angry mob on suspicion of stealing cooking oil.

Chitipa Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Mathews Mfune, said Chipofya was arrested on 15th September following police investigations into the matter, and was found at a location where he had been hiding.

Mfune said the deceased died at Chitipa District Hospital on 16th March this year after being assaulted by the angry mob when he was found hiding a 20-litre jerrycan of cooking oil in a maize field on the night of 15th March this year.

Chipofya is from Vongo Village, under Senior Chief Jalavikuba in Mzimba District and will appear in court soon to answer a murder charge.

IG Promotes Officers Involved in Nasrat Osman Rescue Operation

Inspector General of the Malawi Police Service, Richard Luhanga, has promoted eight junior officers who took part in the operation that rescued British national Nasrat Osman from kidnappers.

National Police Publicist Gladys Chiwaula said the Police Chief has also given each officer a token of appreciation of K1 million.

"The IG has commended the officers for their dedication, bravery, resilience and professionalism during the operation," said Chiwaula.

On 17 September 2026 in Blantyre, officers led by Deputy Inspector General responsible for Operations, Dr Noel Kaira, rescued the British national. During the operation, the Deputy Inspector General was shot, while two kidnappers died from gunshot injuries.
